Doug Young | Owner
A fun-loving family man with a passion for people makes a great restaurant owner. Doug fell in love with the restaurant business at a young age, securing his first job as a dishwasher when he was just 14. He remained in the back of the house for a time, working in the kitchen at Captain Boomers, TumbleWeed, and Houston’s all throughout his teen years, where he gained extensive knowledge on all things food. Eventually, his people skills and charming personality brought him to the front of the house, beginning as an Expo at Z Tejas.
He moved up the ladder at Z quickly- from expo, to busboy, to bartender, to manager, and eventually to opening up the Z Tejas at the Arboretum as General Manager. After working at Z for over 17 years, Doug decided to make his dream of opening his own restaurant a reality. After many sleepless nights and planning, him and Matt opened Cover 3 Anderson in 2008.
When asked why he wanted to open his own restaurant, Doug replied “I love great food, great beverages, SPORTS, and the way these three things bring people together.” These 3 things are what Cover 3 is all about, as anyone can see as they walk through the door. Doug’s passion for the industry, dedication to customers and employees, drive, and experience allow the restaurant to be what it is today. His favorite menu item is Doug’s Certified Reuben, hence the name.
Doug’s ultimate goal was to create a restaurant that his friends would love to come to and so, he invites you to be our guest and bring your friends into a comfortable atmosphere for great food and drinks, great sports, and great times.
Doug is a graduate of McNeil High School and earned a degree in Finance from Texas State San Marcos. Doug is married to Katie and they have two children, Riley and Jack.
